I am purchasing a new computer, can I use the Office 97
software that I purchased with the old computer on the new
computer and then buy the Office upgrade? I will not be
using Ofice on the old machine.

Assuming your new machine has Windows on it, there should be no problem. I
have used Office 97 on Windows 2000 and on Windows XP.

You don't have to install 97 first before doing the upgrade, providing you
have the original Office 97 CD. Just run the upgrade and when asked, put the
Office 97 disk into the CD.

Take care,

John.

If it is a retail version yes, if it is an "OEM" version of Office then
no, it is tied to the old PC.
