I touched on this subject some twelve or so months ago, and the answer I
received from an MVP was, to put it mildly, a cop-out.
In Accounting Pro 2007, there is only the ability to have the US Dollar set
as base currency (by non-negotiable default) even though other currencies can
be set for each account. A problem that can, up to a point be lived with.
However, on the question of taxes, whilst sales tax can be set from the user
interface, purchase tax can not, EVEN THOUGH A QUICK INVESTIGATION OF THE
DATA BASE IN SQL REVEALS THAT PROVISION FOR PURCHASE TAX HAS BEEN MADE, but
not included in the UI.
Gentlemen, this is a very good piece of software, almost, but whether
Microsoft has a "US is best" mindset or what, there is a much larger market
outside the US.
It would not be difficult to add to the software to allow for the following:
1. Utilisation in any Jurisdiction.
2. Provide a sub routine to set up both Corporate (or personal) taxes.
3. Set up GST or VAT.
I know that 2008 version has a UK version, but why limit to two Jurisdictions.
Most competitive software provides for multi-jurisdictional use, why not
Microsoft.

You seem to not see the light at the end of the tunnel on a great deal of
your software, yet, if you really cleaned up your act you would not lose so
many customers to alternative systems.

You may respond to me direct if you wish on (e-mail address removed). But
please do give serious consideration to this.

Basically, the MS Office discussion groups are peer support, but
you may want to also post this in the MS Office Accounting discussion group using the link below where it may get more visibility to
the Accounting Team.

FWIW, it's not just a matter of currency considerations in different countries, it's generally accepted accounting principles and
local taxation / recording requirements and more that have to be right to be useful in other countries.
