office and other icons missing from start menu (xp)

when I click on the start menu.....all office icons are
missing......and icons for things like calculator are
missing as well......

I dont know how to fix this problem......I could
reinstall office, but I dont think that will fix the
problem with the other programs.....

do I have to reinstall the os or is there something
better to do ?
