office and saving to cd

i am having problems with xp and office, iam doing a
college course where the data i am given is on 3.5 floppy,
but the computer that i have access to at work are cd
only. the problem is that when i copy the floppy to cd, it
makes everything read-only. so then it won't let me
change anything. but if i try to change the attributes it
comes up with a error and wont let me. this also happens
if i copy the disk to the hard drive and then save to cd.
can anyone help?

CD-ROM is by definition a read-only mechanism so when you save it (or burn
it), you will not be able to change it.

The only way round is is for the machine with the cd-burner on to have a
packet-writing program installed, such as Roxio DirectCD or Nero InCD, and
these applications should be used to format a CD-RW disc. Once formatted,
they can be used just like another hard drive or a floppy disc.

The only thing you will need to remember is that when using them on another
machine, that machine needs to have the same packet-writing software for you
to be able to write or read them (unless you use Windows XP in which case it
can read, not write, these discs.
