We use RIS to install Microsoft Windows XP Pro to our machines. When the
machines are installed RIS moves the Computer Object into a OU that then
runs a series of Application installs via Group Policy. We have Office 2003
as part of this Group Policy and use a network based install point and a
custom MST file to set our options. The strange thing is that we are
getting a 50/50 chance that Office will work after the installation is
complete. 50% of the time we get the message "Microsoft (Office
Application) has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup
again." We have even tried to remove the Office Group Policy Object and
install it from another OU and built another Group Policy and the Network
Installation point both slip streaming the patches and using RTM version.
Any help would be nice the only thing we find in the Microsoft KB's talks
about running Setup from the CD and using the /allusers="" switch. Not an
option when you have over 600 machines to rebuild to XP and install Office
2003 on.
