OFFICE APPLICATIONS HANG ON LAUNCHING

After having worked without problem all Office Applicayions started hanging
on launching. Each time a similar error message is sent, e.g.
Error Signature: \WINWORD.EXE szAppVer: 11.0.81690 szModName: hangapp
szModVer: 0.0.0.0 offset 00000000

This is Offioce Professional 2003 upgraded from Office Premium

You haven't happened to switch the Shortcut into compatibility mode?
(r-click the shortcut and see if there is a compatibility tab)
