Office applications no longer can read files

I have a installation of Office xp and office 2000 before
XP that cannot read word or excel files. I can import
them but not open them directly. I have imported and
saved them but not able to open again without importing.

This started when I changed passwords for security
reasons and PcAnywhere stopped working with encryption.
