Office Applications not running after adding memory

P

Paul Gwinnett

I am in the process of adding 128 MB of memory plus an
extra PCI board. No matter what combinations I choose, I
find that whenever I try and run Excel, Word, Outlook,
etc, they start and then disappear from the screen.

I've tried memory, without PCI board.
PCI Board without Memory
New memory only etc

Only when I take out PCI board plus new memory, is
everything OK. I have a Celeron Processor 433 HZ, 64 MB
memory and run Windows 98 SE plus Office 2000 Professional.

Can anyone help.

Try just installing the memory. Leave the PCI card out for this. Then after you have installed the memory chip reset your CMOS. Refer to your computer documentation on how to do this. It as actually nothing more then taking a bridge and moving it and then moving it back. Anyway after you have done that and turned on the machine it should go thouggh what is called a POST. And you will see it. Look closely at that. If you get a error then you have a bad memory chip. And that could be your trouble. If not that is good. Proceed along and let us know if you are still having the trouble.
