Office Applications open slowly

Using XP PRO on a domain. I have found in the past few days that my office
applications take on average 30 seconds to open when connected to the network.
When not connected to the network they open instantly. Also when the
application is already open, opening the document form within it is fine.
I've checked for updates, AV conflicts, template corruption and network
settings, but not luck as of yet.
Can anyone help?
