Office Applications won't print

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

When using any Office 2004 application, they won't print if I press apple P or go to File/print. I never get to the print dialog window. It will hang for 5-15 seconds then I get the spinning beach ball. Then I have to force quit the program. I tried just waiting one time and then all other programs started to hang.

I can print by clicking on the print button in the toolbar.

I have trashed preferences and repaired permissions. Now I just re-installed the application and still have the same problem.

Any other ideas?

Print problems are usually traceable to the OS and/or printer/driver, not
the program from which you are trying to print. the first thing to check is
whether there is an update to your printer driver. I've heard that Apple
threw a curve by including drivers in 10.5.0 then turning right around &
doing things differently than their own specs called for when they released
10.5.2 - if there isn't a driver update as yet you might also check the
mfr's support site for others having a similar problem. The Apple

You are right, I think it is a driver issue. When I specified a different printer, I was able to print normally.
