Office Apps all Screwed Up!

So I installed Office 2003 - just ran the msi exe from the CD and that was
it. But when I have other apps (like Visual Studio, Internet Explorer,
etc.....), these external apps do not recognize or cannot find any Office
2003 programs. Even more weird, when I go to Start--All
Programs--Accessories--System Information to find all the info for my
PC....in the menu under Office Applications, for Word and Excel, it says
these apps are not availble YET....I use the Word and the Excel everyday and
they are fully functional! Any advice?
I am using Win XP and I have uninstalled, reinstalled many times.

Are you running the .msi file or using
the Setup.exe program on the Office CD?

Office's Setup program does some additional
work that may be needed.

I don't get it, what kind of thing do you do in Internet Explorer that
makes is "find" an Office app. Do you mean like clicking a mailto link?
If so, check "Internet Options : Programs" and see what it says.

Regarding Visual Studio, what exactly does this have to do with "Office
Programs"?

Are you a home user, or on a big corporate network?

using the msi....sorry not the cd. When I run the diagnostics for my System,
it tells me that I have no Excel or Word installed. This creates a problem
because other apps that have links to Excel, Word wont work because it can;t
find it.But Excel and Word ARE installed because I use them everyday! Go
figure
