Office apps close

The Office 2008 apps keep closing down by themselves! The app closes and then a message comes up asking if I want to Send my problem's information and if I want to Recover my work. What can I do to stop this? Is this because of my Office 2008 intallation or is it my Mac?

Normally, it is caused by broken documents. If someone has been hacking and
chopping in the documents, they can break the internal code so the
application can't read them.

Which format are you using? How were the documents created? Which OS are
you using? Which processor?

I've been using .doc and .docx. I've normally used a documents I created in Office 2004 and 2008. I'm using Leopard 10.5.1 with an Intel processor.

OK, we have one of the most difficult combinations there is :)

I am going to assume that you have a corrupt document. Let's pick one of
them and try to de-corrupt it.

There are two main kinds of corruption: Internal Table, or embedded object.

Internal Table corruptions are the easiest to fix, so let's do that first.

1) Open a bad document.

2) Create a new blank document and save it in .docx format.

3) Carefully copy everything EXCEPT the very last paragraph mark in the bad
document.

4) Paste into the new document.

5) Save and quit.

Re-open the new document, and try some editing: tell me how you get on.

I can't tell from your description which kind of corruption you have (I am
not even sure that the cause IS corruption). But this operation will give
me some answers.

If Word stops crashing, then the problem was internal table corruption, and
it is now fixed.

If Word keeps crashing on the new document, we have to keep looking.

Hope this helps

No, I don't think that's it because I can use the Office apps a really long time and then they'll close. I've noticed they don't close if I keep saving regularly.

I need you to try what I suggested earlier. I can't go any further until I
know what difference that makes (if any...)
