I have a pc that had norton anti virus on it but still got infected with a
virus. used the virus removal tool and successfully removed the virus.
removed norton and installed panda 2006 on it, rescanned the pc to ensure
that the system is clean. Panda is up to date and even without running any
anti virus proram we cannot open any office files. "files is unailable"
message. even wih creating new files, saving and then open it will give the
same message. Uninstalled and reinstalled office, same results - Can anyone
help?

Thanks
Ted

Use Windows Explorer or My Computer to search for the
OFFICEAV.DLL file on your system (include hidden and system
files/folders in the search options). If you find it, note the
directory path where it is located. Close all open applications.
From Windows, click on Start | Run. In the Open dialog box,
type the command (including quotes):

regsvr32 -U "C:\<path>\OFFICEAV.DLL"

Replace <path> with the directory path for your OfficeAV.dll
file. Click on OK. You only have to run this command once (not
every time you restart your computer). You should get the
message: "DllUnregisterServer in C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll succeeded."
