Office apps open slow when online

Brian

Recently I've found that opening applications and opening
files (word/Excel) when online (dialup) is excruciatingly
slow, sometimes a long as 10-15 seconds. I notice it's
scanning for viruses but it did that before with no ill
effect. I'm using Norton Antivirus Pro Edition 2003.
I also notice that there is internet activity during
these processes even though I'm not browsing.
Any solutions?

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,

Norton is attempting to resolve an expired certificate.

In Norton go to Options and in the Miscellaneous section turn off
"Enable Office Plug-in".

Thanks Beth, that did the trick.

I'm having a similar problem, but I have Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition v. 8.0, and there is no such setting that I can find regarding Office Plugins.

I've also not found anything on the Symantec website that's of any help.

Other suggestions?
