Office Apps stalls at initate and quit.

Dan

About a month ago I had a hard disk failure. I replaced
the hard disk in my G4 and reloaded all of my Mac OSX
software and then did the software updates. I then loaded
my Microsoft Office applications. after struggling to get
it to accept my product number (I had to reload with OS9
and use classic to load up my OS 9 version of Office) I got
the Microsoft applications to work. the problem is with
entorage, word, Power Point and Excel all of these programs
stall at opening, and at quit. It takes them anywhere from
30 seconds to 1 minute to either start functioning or to
quit completely. This never occured prior to the hard disc
failure. All of the Microsoft products have been "updated"
per the instructions.

Hi Dan,

You'll need to visit the Microsoft web site to download then install the
updates for Office 2001. When you're done with the updates be sure to raise
the preferred memory settings and then rebuild the desktop file before using
the applications.

Hi

I'm sorry I misunderstood. The way I read it is that you wanted to use
Office 2001 in classic.

Use Google to search through the newsgroup for previous postings about
upgrading. I'm pretty sure all you need to have is the 2001 CD to put into
the drive at the appropriate time during the Office X install.

Once you have installed Office X I don't think you need Office 2001 at all
any more. In fact, I think you are asked about this during the install
process.

After you install Office X you should install the updates from the Microsoft
web site http://www.microsoft.com/mac/ and then use Disk Utility to Repair
Permissions.

Problems opening Office applications are most often due to corrupt fonts, a
subject which has already been discussed at length in the newsgroups.
