office assistant and agent 2.0?

i recently re-installed windows Me and office xp pro.
I now get the following message when i try to activate the
office assistant from the help menu:

THE OFFICE ASSISTANT REQUIRES MICROSOFT AGENT 2.0 OR LATER.
THIS PRODUCT IS AVAILABLE ON THE OFFICE SYSTEM PACK

I only had this problem after a re-install of windows Me.
Prior to this I could access the assistant without a
problem. I know that everything I need to access the
assistant is on my office xp disc. So why can I not access
it?
