Office Assistant in Word 2004

Does anybody know why I can't change my Office Assistant in Word 2004?
When I try, the back and next buttons are shadowed out.

You need to install more of these. For some reason the Office 2004 did
not include any of the additional assistants you could find with Office
X. You can nevertheless install and use the ones from Office X if you
have it...

You can even install and use the ones from Office 2001 (which suggests
probably also Office 98). Look in the Value Pack on the X or 2001 CD and
copy the assistant files into the apps/ms office/office/assistants folder in
your 2004 installation.

I believe that the reasons were that

1) Quite a lot of stuff (ClipArt, especially, which is enormous, also some
Templates and the Assistants) had to be left off the CD because there just
wasn't room, no that Office 2004 has expanded in other areas

2) Usability studies showed that an overwhelming majority of Mac Office
users didn't use any Assistant so it was a natural candidate for "the cut"

3) If you're updating from fro Office v. X you can bring all the missing
items, including Assistants, over form Office X: they're fully compatible

4) In due course they will appear as downloads on MacTopia.

You may have noticed that Apple is now making its Install disks as DVD
instead of multiple CDs when it's a machine that has a DVD player installed
for all configurations (e.g. the desktop G5). Microsoft can't assume that
everyone has a DVD player, and I guess wants to avoid multiple CD
installers. It's easier - for now -0 to exclude some of this ancillary
content to make room on the - still - single CD.
