office assistant keeps opening. Tried removing /Users/username/Library/
Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 settings.plist
and /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist and now
the assistant comes up, I enter name product key info, press continue
and it won't go past that. Like it is stuck there!. Any suggestions?

If that fails, then create a new User and see if Office opens there without
the Setup Assistant loop.

How to create a new User:
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test Office there.

If you still have problems,

Quit all Microsoft applications (Easy way: log out/in with Shift key down to
disable any startup items.)
Drag the Microsoft Office 2008 folder to the Trash.
Empty Trash.
Reinstall Office 2008 from your original installation disk. See details
