Office assistant won't open

I am encountering an issue where my Office Assistant
won't open.

If I try to bring it up, I get a message that whatever
program I was using -- Word, Excel, etc. -- has
encountered a problem and must close. I have tried the
detect and repair, but it isn't helping.

Can anyone help me with this? I am using Office 2000 with
Windows XP and McAfee Internet Security 6.0.
