office assistant

i can't get office assistant to run in word or excel it says to reload office . i took office completely out and reloaded it get the same thing

I have been running into a similar issue lately. Whenever
I try to run the Office assistant, any Office program
(Word, Excel, Access) says it has encountered a problem
and needs to shut down.

I have tried to run the repair function, but that hasn't
helped.

I am using Windows XP with Office 2000 and McAfee
Internet Security 6.0.

Does anyone have any idea why I can't get the Office
assistant working?
