Office Beta refresh 2 - lost files

M

Marvin

Hi,

My Beta expired, and I did have limited functionality.
I decided to go back to my Office 2000 for a while, so I copied all me email
and contacts to a folder . Then I uninstalled the Beta, then I installed
the Office 2000.

Office 2000 will not read any of these emails or my contacts.

What can I do to be able to see my email?

Am I hosed again ?

When you installed the Office Beta, you of course did not do so on a
production machine, right? So, just use your backup to restore Office XP
version files.

Now, if you used the new Outlook unicode .pst file, after being told upfront
that it is incompatible with previous versions of Outlook's .pst file, you
are pretty much stuck unless you roll your machine clock back to pre-January
31, reinstall B2TR files, and then export your files to a 97-2002 version
..pst file.

You can also order a trial version so you can export your .pst file to the
prior version.

People who are evaluating the software for potential deployment. Taking one
look at it and then uninstalling is not how a test lab works.

Oh, I get it now.

So I have the original CD, but not the Refresh2 files. Do you think that
will work?

If this is the Beta 2 CDs, then probably not. I forget when they expired
but changes were made to later beta versions that may not be compatible with
earlier versions.

Why not just order a trial, convert your files to previous versions, and be
about your merry way?

I will not order the trial because of the 6 weeks waiting time for the CD to
arrive.
It seems like all that stuff takes wekks. Not like Ebay where you get it in
two days.
I will buy the real version.
