Office Binder - Why is it no longer a supported product?

C

Codi

Hi all -

One of our departments heavily used Binder in the past to create their meeting documentation. These documents were about 2 inches thick when printed out double sided, and Binder allowed them to easily send out an electronic copy and allow for the tabs and easy access to the document. We've since upgraded to Office XP, and they've had to start making their binders by hand - and hate it. My questions are as follows:

1. Why did Microsoft stop the product? Is it compatible at all with Office XP or 2003?
2. Are there any comparable products in the Microsoft suite?
3. Are there any comparable products out on the market in general?

I know that many people think "Just zip up the files, it doesn't matter". The display capabilities and having an index if you will of all documents, as well as having them link with each other makes the zip file not meet the requirements. Also, the people that create these materials are able to work in one file, rather than each individual documents.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Codi

Hi, Codi,

1. You can install Binder from a previous version of Office.
2. No
3. I don't know of anything, but you might search Google or your favorite
shareware site. Lots of people recommend using ZIP functionality; you can't
do things like print in bulk, but you can package items, and it supports
folder structures, as well.
