Office buttons there programs gone

I did a computer recovery. Now if I go to my start menu and click programs
Office and Office tools are there but if I click on any of them I get an
error message " This action only available for products currently installed"
I tried to reinstall it but apparently there is a problem with my CD because
it will not read it. The version is Office 2003 and I am running windows XP.
It has to still be somewhere on my computer or it would not still be listed
in my program files right? Please help.

I just installed microsoft home and student, but there is no icon on my
desktop. I ran the office diagnostics and it found no problems. I also did
the reboot. So what am I missing. What do I do ?????????????????????????????

Cannot read cd?
If you open Explorer are you able to read the cd, locate setup.exe, and run
that?
