Office compatibility pack

I recently installed the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack on a computer
that has Office 2033. I got an error when I try to open an Office 2007 Word
document. The error says it cannot open the file with no other info. What
could be the issue?

The Pack is defective, even with its Service Pack. Some people report it
working, but formany others it does not. There appear to be a number of
conditions that must be met for it to work, but there is not published list
of them. You don't know whether it will work unless you try it, and
Microsoft offers no assistance if it does not work on your system. Microsoft
does not admit the problems.

It doesn't work on my system either.
