Office components won't quit on command

I am unable to quit any Office 2004 component without resorting to
"force quit". I have consulted with both Apple and MS, and neither is
able to solve the problem. I wondered if anyone on this group has
encountered this and if so, have they found a fix for it? I have done
all the ususal thing, reinstalled, checked for corrupted fonts etc etc.
If I am in safe mode, the components quit correctly. I have removed
all start-up items that might conflict, but other than in safe mode,
nothing works. I am running 10.4.1 on a G5 iMac.

I haven't seen this, does 10.4.2 fix it?

If you've checked all the start-up items that might conflict, what about
the other startup items?

Do you have Acrobat installed?
