office contact multiplied view..

I have a list of 394 contacts in my contact list, that includes emails,
phone, fax, spouce, etc.. the full work.. Now here's my problem.. When i want
to send my contacts an email, i start the email, then click on the TO buttom,
wich brings up my contact list. Unfortunatly, when the contact lists comes
up, I have the names, with emails, and fax poping up at me, so instead of
seing 394 i see 1182 contacts, since every contact is repeated 3 and
sometimes 4 times... Same name, but one with is primary email (smtp) , the
other name with is fax, and some of them a 3rd name, with their secondary
emails.. If i delete the duplicates, it actually deletes the contact's fax or
other mail.. also, no way to add colums or modify the view to see multi info
per contact (like all on one line instead of multi rows..) Any one has an
idea about this.. I'd like to add lines or other stuff but without deleting..

Can anyone help on this, i'd really appreciate it.

This is exactly what should be happening. By design, the Outlook address
book presents you with all the electronic addresses in your Contacts Folder.

I guess there's no way around that.. What if i use another MS application? Or
change the properties of an app.. If not , well i thank you very much for
your help..

There are some workarounds for that behavior.
One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to prefix the fax
number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for home, O for
other). If the fax number begins with a letter, Outlook won't show it in the
address book.

There are a couple of utilities that can help you hide fax numbers from the
address book. See:

Another way to avoid having fax numbers appear in the address book is
simply not to enter data in the fax fields. Put fax numbers in some other
(non-phone) fields.
