Office corruption and it won't uninstall

I am running Office 2k Professional and I had a virus
corrupt some of my system files in Windows 2k. I did a
repair on the operating system and now I am back in and
everything is working fine EXCEPT Office.

It appears that everything is there, but when I try to
run one of the programs in Office, I get the box where it
is installing (like it was setup to install on first
use), but it won't see the DATA1 file NO MATTER WHERE IT
IS. So I said screw it, I will just uninstall it. Well,
when I try to do that, I get the same little box. If I
just try to INSTALL it over the existing install, I get a
box that says it cannot be installed because an install
already exists.
There was a tool I once saw that Microsoft had put out
that COMPLETELY removed office so that it could be
reinstalled, because they knew of a problem like this,
but I cannot find that utility now. Any ideas? Thanks in
advance.

Office 2000 will try to repair itself if it detects a
problem. Office 2000 is seeking the original installation
source (Example: Office 2000 Pro CD).

Once it repairs itself, you will probably be able to un-
install the product.

The utility you are seeking would be in the Office 2000
Resource Kit area when searched in the knowledgebase.
There is one for CD1 & one for CD2. Most products are on
CD1, Publisher is on CD2. They may be referred to as
Office removal tool or eraser. They should be used usually
after a normal un-install through control panel
(Add/Remove software).

Try having your source available (CD in CDROM drive), then
try to start one of the Office apps and let it repair
itself.
