Office corrupts IE?

I upgraded office 97 to office 2000 standard on a Win200
machine and now internet explorer doesn't work correctly.
Clicking on a link that opens another ie window which
should have content just comes up blank. Also right
clicking on a link and selecting Open in New Window also
comes up blank. This happens on any website.

Anyone ever seen this??
