Office crashing on startup

E

elfle

I recently had to reset the Power Management Unit on my iBook G4, OSX
10.3.9. Now Office 2004 (updated 11.2.2) will not start. Any
application starts the beachball turning, and 2 minutes later the
Microsoft Error Reporter tells me Office must close. I have trashed the
various application preferences files, repaired the permissions with
Disk Utility, and nothing good happens. What can I do next?

Hi elfle,

Assuming that all your other non-Office applications work fine, I would
recommend a complete removal and reinstallation of Office. For a step by
step procedure, see here:

(If using Safari, hit Refresh once or twice; better yet, use another
browser.)

I have trashed the
various application preferences files,

Have you also trashed the cache files in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
??
