Office Docs won't open from Explorer

After I installed Microsoft Office 2007 Pro on my Windows XP pro machine, I
can no longer open office docs from Windows Explorer. When I double-click
on a doc, it opens the correct Office 2007 application, but the application
doesn't open the document. I've run the diagnostics and found no problem
with the installation. How can I correct this problem?

Assuming the file associations are correct, try running Word's Diagnostics.
You get to it by clicking on the Office Orb, then click on "Word Options",
then click on "Resources", and finally click on "Diagnose". Or just use Help
and search for "detect and repair." The instructions are fairly complete. You
may need to repeat this with Excel, powerPoint, etc.

That is the same Office 2007 Diagnostics I've already run. No problems were
found. I don't assume the file associations are correct, but I did not
change them.

Again, on my Win XP Pro machine with Office XP Pro, the file associations
ran correctly. When I installed Office 2007 Pro, it uninstalled Office XP,
prior to installing Office 2007. Perhaps it mangled the file associations.
All I know is that when I click on a file from Windows Explore, the correct
Office Application is started, but it neglects to open the document.
