Office Document Imaging

I have a folder on a network drive that will contain several hundred .tif files. We will view them using the Office Document Imaging program. I'd like to password protect them either as a group or individually so that they 1) cannot be deleted 2) cannot be modified and 3) cannot be copied or "saved as." I imagine that last one will be a little tough. Can all this be done with a MS program or should I go to Adobe Acrobat?

Thanks

Ned:

If you are using a server that has an NTFS formatted drive, then simply
have your admin give Everyone or Authenticated users Read Only or execute
permissions on the folder. (Novell and other OS' have similar
capabilities). However, you are correct that the Save As capability will
normally be there regardless of directory permissions.

BTW even converting to PDF will not change that capability, however when the
new file is saved it has the same PDF security perimssions as the original
PDF file, so no changes will be allowed.

For what it's worth, a persistant "thief" can run OCR on a screen
capture of the PDF file.
