Hopefully this is a good place to post this, but if not let me know and
I'll post someplace else. Basically the problem is that I am
responsible for the development of a windows application written in
Delphi. The application doesn't directly use Office applications in
any way, but while it is running those documents take quite awhile to
load. Here are the behaviours it is exhibiting.
1) If you double click on a word document, it takes up to 10 seconds
for word to open with the document, even a simple 1 page text document.
2) If you open up Word without specifying a document (for example from
the Start menu) it loads almost instantly
3) If you open a document while word is already open it loads instantly
4) If you start word using the run command and specify a document it
loads almost instantly (for example "winword.exe C:\test.doc")
The same thing happens with Excel documents as well. As soon as you
turn off my application, things return to normal. So what I'm looking
for is any ideas on what resources Word is trying to access that might
be tied up when my application is running. I've searched the groups
and tried all the solutions mentioned for slow loading documents, but I
don't think the problem is the same since it loads just fine normally.
