Office docx won't open in Office 2007

I have the current version office 2007 and so does my husband. However, he
tried to send me a document created on the office 2007 and it came through as
the docx file. My computer word would not open the document. When I in
return tried to send him something, he was offered the option of opening it
with a microsoft conversion...it was the docx that he was converting.
However, it at least converted his file. He then sent me back the same
e-mail that I had sent him my document in...I still could not open it. It
said:

"This file could not be found.
(C:\WINDOWS|System32\copydaleletter.docx)

The same file that is on my computer already and originated from my computer
can not be opened from my original e-mail.

I have researched and also made sure that I have all the current updates. I
am at a loss as to what else I should do. I have search online and to no
avail. If anyone could help me I could appreciate it. Thank you.

I am running Vista Home Premium with the Student version of Office.

By the way....I can open the document up in my office 2007 from my hard drive
original location and also from the usb key that I have it on.

So what happened when you tried?

So what are you using as an email client?

Well docx is the new format Office 2007 document. If you save the document
to your HDD and then try to open it with Word 2007, what EXACTLY happens?
