Office Enterprise 2007 won't install properly

I've installed Office Enterprise 2007 on a home use program updating from
Office 2003 (Vista SP1). Every time I run an application it sets off the
windows installer several times over then the Office configuring screen.
I tried uninstalling, re-installing, repairing (that crashes). I've tried
the fix for word using norereg in the registry settings, but that only works
for word.
All this means about 10 minutes to start outlook and constant interruptions
of more installer screens.
Before I give up on Office completely, is there anyone from Microsoft can
help without charging me for the privilege of making their product usuable?
I can't find any solution on the support site or google, just lots of people
like me with the same problem.
"windows installer - preparing to install"
"please wait while windows configures microsoft enterprise 2007"
"gathering required information" (repeats many times - wait 10 minutes or
more)
"A program needs your permission to continue" OK
"Configuration process- configuring Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007" (wait
4 minutes)
Program opens but outlook keeps up with multiple "windows installer -
preparing to install" dialog boxes. Works eventually, but this is every time.
HELP!

I would have UNinstalled the 2003, and then Installed the 2007. Since
you Uninstalled Office 2007, I would also Uninstall 2003, and if
necessary run the Windows installer cleanup tool to get rid of 2003
before putting 2007 on. Also running the install as administrator.

That part of Vista causes an inordinate amount of grief if left on
during installation. All you need is one registry entry blocked during
an installation and then you won't hear the end of it.
