OFFICE/ENTOURAGE 2004 Lost Data

Hi,

I am running Office 2004 version 11.2.4 on an Intel MacBook Pro. After
turning on my comptuer yesterday Entourage started the Setup window. I
realized that I lost all of my calendar and address book data. I also
noticed that my office documents were gone from the documents folder in
my mac. I did a search and found all of the documents elsewhere. Is
there a way I can track down the entourage data so that I can recover
my calendar data and what would I search for? Thanks.

Make sure that the Microsoft User Data folder (or an alias to it) is in
the ~:Documents folder (where ~ is your home directory). The Entourage
database is stored in the

Microsoft User Data:Office 2004 Identities:<your identity>:

folder with the name "Database"

Thanks for your response. How can I get the info back? Do I have to
move one User data folder to the other location? Also, how do I know
which folder Entourage is using for the data? thanks.

You should now have to Microsoft User Data folders on your hard disk.
Entourage needs this folder, that's why it's created a new one when it could
no longer find the old one, and that's why you started with a fresh (i.e.
empty) user identity. Compare the two MUD folders; to do so, select them
individually in the Finder, then hit Cmd (aka. the Apple key)+I. You'll see
two info windows, and they should tell you the respective sizes and creation
dates of the MUD folders. Your old one is the one with the older date
(obviously), and it should also be larger than the other one. Once you've
identified the correct MUD folder, do the following:

* quit all running Office applications.

* launch Activity Monitor (in Applications>Utilities), and select an item
called Database Daemon from that list. Click on the Quit symbol in the upper
left corner and end the process.

* now move the correct MUD folder to ~/Documents (where ~ stands for your
user name). The MUD folder has to be in the Documents folder; if you remove
it, Entourage will create a new one, but you know that already.

If you now launch Entourage, you should have access to your old identity
again. If it's not working, post back, and preferably stick to one newsgroup
only; cross-posting can be quite confusing for everyone.
