Office Groove Install Error 1704

I'm currently trying to install the Office Groove 2007 Beta. I've had to
reboot at least a half a dozen times, installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled
v3.1a a few times and am now on my second attempt at the Office Groove
installation.

Yesterday, I installed v3.1a without any issues. Then, I found out that I
really needed Office Groove to work with the others in our group. Okay, I
ran the Groove Migrator utility, uninstalled v3.1a and then proceeded to run
OG-EN.exe to install Office Groove. OG-EN.exe install ran for well over an
hour before I hit the old "Cancel" button. The progress bar just was not
moving anywhere. Then, Setup said it had to rollback the changes and I left
this running overnight for about 6 hours. Setup was still sitting there
saying that it was rolling back the changes. I get the feeling it would
still be telling me that in 3 or 4 days if I hadn't gone to Task Manager and
killed it (the Setup window would not close via conventional means). At this
point, my Windows systems was pretty well hosed and I had to reboot the
machine.

So, I reboot and try to rerun OG-EN.exe and it tells me that there is
already another Setup running and my 2 options are 1) Retry when other Setup
finishes (which is now long gone in the bit bucket) or 2) Cancel. So, you
can see that I was in no man's land. So, I exited and went back to start all
over with v3.1a.

I installed v3.1a (successfully), ran the Migrator utility, then uninstalled
it (with yet another reboot thrown in). Now, I'm running OG-EN.EXE again and
during this install, I get the following error message:
"Error 1704. An installation for Microsoft Office Groove 2007 (Beta) is
currently suspended. You must undo the changes made by that installation to
continue. Do you want to undo those changes?

Setup failed. Rolling back changes..."

When I was prompted with the question, I chose "Yes". Now, the above Setup
dialog has been on my screen for over an hour and I swear, I saw the progress
bar move ever so slightly about 30 minutes ago. So, what to do, what to
do??? Help, suggestions and workarounds are greatly appreciated!

Well, I must say that I'm very disappointed that not a single Groove person
has responded to my issue above.

Another day and the plot continues to thicken. While installing another MS
application (Project REAL), its Setup program detected that the Groove Beta
install had been left hanging and IT offered to undo the changes. Well,
shocked the heck out of me WHY it detected it but it did seem to roll them
back (with the obligatory reboot) and then I was able to proceed with the
Project REAL installation (with NO problems!).

So, I thought to myself, lets try the Groove installation again. I'd have
been better off spending the afternoon out in the garden as the Groove
install has hosed up my system yet again and the installer progress bar has
not moved in the past 3 hours and system resources show that there is 1
thread, 79 handles and a Mem Usage of 5044K for OG-EN.EXE and those numbers
have not changed. I can move the window around and even try to exit (which
it then prompts me if I want to Cancel) so its not unresponsive. Someone is
caught in an infinite loop somewhere and I have no idea what is causing this.

C'mon folks, offer up your suggestions! Thanks...
