Hi there,
I run XP 2003 pro (SP2) and have a prob with Word/Excel/Outlook, they hang
(Not Responding from Task Manager) when I try to change a directory when
saving/openning files. The program hangs for about 3 or 4 minutes, then frees
up only to hang again within about 10 seconds or less while I change
directories.
I have run these prgs in safe mode etc, problem still there.
The cruncher appears to be that when one of the office products
hangs/freezes on either File-as/Open etc when a link is clicked. But I then
DISABLE the network connection while the Office product is hung, then the
link in the relevant Office product, unfreezes and normal operation is
returned. This is further confirmed when I work in reverse with an operating
link and subsequently ENABLE the network connection.
So the bottom line is, I can either have my network/Internet etc, OR I have
have Word etc run properly.
If you are going to ask if I have removed KB 908531 (MS06 - 015) or run KB
918165, removed all non essential services etc, the answer is definately
Yes. I have also done a lot of "Deep Repair" not just SFC stuff, all to no
effect.
So any help will be greatly appreciated,
Dave
