Office Identity transfered?

Muty

Hello there,

today my copy of Microsoft Office 2008 arrived! I entered the product
key, everything went fine, installation worked out.

My question is, since I am a geeky privacy fan: is my "identity"
transfered to Microsoft at any point? I don't want them to know my
private and business address at any point.

For me it won't be a problem if for example an ID code or the product
key is transfered for checking for illegal product keys or stuff like
that, but my address is my private data and I don't want them to
share.

Simple question: is any part of my "Office Identity" transfered? Or
just the product key or equivalent stuff?

Regards,
Muty

Hi Muty,

with Mac Office, no personal information is sent to Microsoft; unlike
Windows users, Mac users do not have to activate Office in order to use the
applications. There is an option that allows you to register online, but
that option only allows you to subscribe to the Mactopia newsletter.
