Hello,
I am having trouble installing Office 2003 onto a Windows 2003 Server. The
CD autoruns as it should and I am able to step through the screens to
customize options. The problem occurs after I click Install. I receive the
following error message screen during the installation process:
"Microsoft Office Setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry for the
inconvenience.
An error occurred during the installation, and setup was unable to complete
Please tell Microsoft about this problem
What data does the error report contain?"
The last line "What data does the error report contain?" is actually a
hyperlink and when I click on it, I get the following information about my
error.
"Error signature
Event type: office11setup P1: {between these brackets, I believe is the
product code so I cannot provide that info}
P2: 11.0.5614.0 P3: installexecute P4: 0 P5: x P6: x
P7: x"
The error also points me to two of text files (log type files) in my
Document and Settings folder.
The following lists is the last portion of one of the text files:
Exit code was an error.
Shutting down chained setup processing.
Error returned from install, removing cache.
Using Office Source Engine at path: D:\FILES\SETUP\OSE.EXE
Successfully started Office Source Engine in stand-alone mode.
Set Verbose logging for subsequent setup.
***** Setup exits
12/10/2004 11:52:39 AM
(return = 1603)
The following lists is the last portion of the second text file:
=== Logging stopped: 12/10/2004 11:52:39 ===
MSI (c) (20:44): Note: 1: 1708
MSI (c) (20:44): Product: Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 --
Installation operation failed.
MSI (c) (20:44): Attempting to delete file
C:\DOCUME~1\rsalameh\LOCALS~1\Temp\8584d50.mst
MSI (c) (20:44): Unable to delete the file. LastError = 32
MSI (c) (20:44): Grabbed execution mutex.
MSI (c) (20:44): Cleaning up uninstalled install packages, if any exist
MSI (c) (20:44): MainEngineThread is returning 1603
=== Verbose logging stopped: 12/10/2004 11:52:39 ===
Any feedback or help would be greatley appreciated. I have been struggling
with this problem for a while.
Thanks
