office issue

office application's icons not responding in the start menu, all programs,
but the applications are working over all. The only issue is that the start
menu icons do not work for any office applications. I have uninstalled the
office application and re-installed office xp, with the same results, of the
icons not working, but the over all application working fine. I did a search
to find other icons to us so as to access the the office applications. When
doing this I noticed the icons that could not be opened were colored green.
Could this be a security issue with the icons.
