Hi there,
Can you tell me how I can add a license to office 2007 please.
I have purchased office 2007 for my desktop and it works fine.
But my laptop (inherited from someone else) version of office 2007 says it
is not a valid version. how can I update the license on my laptop?
All my emails are stored in outlook on the laptop and I don't want to loose
the emails or my contact lists.
Any help much appreciated.

A retail version of Office (usually - check your EULA) may be installed on
one primary device (your desktop) and one portable device (your laptop). I
would uninstall Office 2007 on the laptop and re-install your version. Your
data should not be affected, but back it up anyway.

Hi Gordon,
How would I back it up indipendantly from office, as an uninstall would wipe
it all?
I have checked that the EULA allows me to, that's fine, but it's the loss of
data that puts me off the unistall.
Any advice would help
Regards

As I said, uninstalling the program should NOT affect any of your data at
all.
If you don't know how to backup your data then I suggest you learn fairly
fast, because ALL critical data should be backed up on a scheduled basis.

Here's how to back up Outlook, your other data just copy onto an external
medium. A memory stick will do temporarily, but you really need to implement
some sort of routine for this either onto DVD or an external HDD..

How to backup and restore Outlook

http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010771141033.aspx

There is out-dated information on some of these pages, specifically with
regard to Outlook 2003 and 2007.

The main points to note:
1. Do NOT use the import/export function to move Outlook data from one
version to another - all you need to do is to copy the pst file, with
Outlook closed.

2. Do NOT paste the copied pst file into the default location - paste into
(for example) your Documents folder and then do File-Open-Outlook Data File
within Outlook.

An Uninstall will not wipe out your data.Your data will remain and will not be
deleted when you delete Office. It is prudent to back up your data just in case.

Your data is stored by default in My Documents unless you changed it. That's
what you back up. The data is not *in* office, so it won't uninstall with
office.

Gordon,
Managed to reinstall Office fine, and it reinstalled the files and folders
with no problem.
And thanks to you and others that posted replies with links on the backup
issue, I have a back schedule sorted out.
YW!

As a matter of interest, do you know where I could find decent advanced
tutorials for power point located on the Microsoft network?
I am an instructor who uses Powerpoint alot, and would love to jazz up my
PowerPoint.

Not specifically on MS, but there's a load of stuff out there.
Try this for starters:
