office live audio

I'm trying to follow a training course on Microsoft Access from the Office
Online Training site, but I cannot get the audio to work. There is a mute
button but it has no effect. I also have "allow sounds on web pages" checked
in Internet options. There must be a switch hidden somewhere. Im using IE6.
Specifically the link below gives the page I'm starting with

Is your DirectX current?

If it wasn't, it is now - I just updated it, but still nothing.

Might go to the manufacturer's web page of your sound card and look around for
an updated driver. Can you get sound with other web pages?

Thanks Mary for the help and advice. There's no problem with other web pages
and the sound card works fine. I've been down the rocky road of updating
drivers for sound and graphics cards with nightmare results. I'm firmly in
the camp of "if it ain't broke, don't mess with it" now. The audio would have
been nice, and it is irritating when something doesn't work, but hey, I know
it's old fashioned but I can read it!

Hi Botty,


After visiting that page what worked was to let it start, wait about 30 seconds. Push pause. Wait, push the play button and then
the plus for volume to get it all the way up and then, about 20 seconds later the sound actually started.

(Be sure to clear the inventory temporary files cache and then restart IE fresh before going to the page).

On the 2nd visit it started right off correctly.
