Office locks on network

When opening a doc, or xls, on Novell they hang anywhere
from 30 sec. to 1 min, before you can do anything. Quota
not a problem, network not a problem either. Any
suggestions appreciated.

I've seen a problem like this where
the hyperlinks within the document
were pointing to a decommissioned
server.
