Check your Startup Items in System Preferences for multiple copies of the
Microsoft Database daemon. If you have more than one, delete them all and
let Entourage create a new one when it's launched.

I'm having the same problems and more with all of my Office apps since
I've installed the update. (10.4.8 on MacBook Pro). It will take
several attempts to launch Entourage and several to launch Excel.
Actually right now I can't launch Excel at all.

Entourage also crashes when the computer goes to sleep or when I switch
Network Locations.

I removed the daemons from Sys Pref/Accounts login items (I'm assuming
that's what you meant by Startup Items in Sys Pref) but same problem.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to trash it and reinstall but not take
it back up to 11.3.2

This should be an easy one to test in a new User. Identifying the source of
the problem will help find a solution.

Yes. Multiple Microsoft Database daemon can cause problems. Deleting them
all will fix that problem. Entourage creates a new one when launched.

You might need to download the combo updater from Apple and run it again.
Doing so overwrites potentially problem-causing files. Several users have
reported this fixed some odd problems they were having with Entourage.

<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/>

Either remove Entourage preferences to test for corruption or test in a new
User. ~/Library/Preferences/:

com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist
com.microsoft.DatabaseDaemon.plist
com.microsoft.Entourage.plist
Microsoft/Entourage Preferences

Run "Remove Office" located in the Office 2004 --> Additional Tools folder"
then apply the updates in this order:

11.3.0. (This update includes all of the improvements released in all
previous Office 2004 updates.)

11.3.2 Update

Download updates here: <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx>

If you are squeamish about updating to the latest, stuff a copy of Office
11.3 then update. If things go wrong, you have the stuffed copy as a backup.

Make sure you have only one daemon in your Startup Items (located in System
Preferences --> Accounts). If you see more than one Microsoft Database
daemon, delete them all and let Entourage recreate a new one.

Thanks Diane. I appreciate your help.

What I ended up doing before getting your reply which seemed to work
was:

After deleting the daemons which didn't work for me I restored a backup
of my Office folder. I had the same issue however.

I then deleted all of my preferences (com.microsoft.xyz.plist... as
well as the Microsoft pref folder). Reboot and everything worked
(using my original Office install and not my backup copy of my office
folder).

Have you upgraded the original Office? Any problems? It sounds like had
incomplete upgrades of all the components in your Office folder.

Thanks for letting us know how you solved the problem. It helps us know what
to suggest.
