OFFICE:MAC 2004 PROBLEM

N

NORTHWEST

I can no longer create new or change existing word document. It's as though my keyboard does not work. I can use WordArt, but no other functions within Word itself. I running a G4 using OX 10.4.11. I have repaired all permissions, no change. I deleted Office and reinstalled using the CD (3 times), no change. I have installed all missing updates, no change. I have switched keyboards, no change.

All of the other Office:mac programs work normally, but not Word, can anyone help me solve this problem?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg:

This is either Preferences or Normal template. Neither are altered or
changed by a re-install.

Work your way painstakingly through the solutions here, in the sequence they
are described (the sequence is important)
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

People: PLEASE stop "re-installing" Office on the Mac. It almost never
fixes anything, because the files that get damaged are not part of the
installation. But it can (usually does...) create other problems. If you
think you need to reset everything, use the Remove Office tool to do so,
otherwise at best your action will have no effect at all. At worst...
Eeeeewwww!

Cheers

John,

Thank you for taking the time to try and help, unfortunately the suggestions did not work. I tried the procedure for testing the normal template, mine tested out fine (I followed the procedure exactly as described) I also followed the procedure for testing "preferences and settings", Word 2004 still will not work correctly.

What might be the next step?

Thanks your for your advice on re-installing Word, I did however use the "Remove Office" function each time I deleted Word 2004.

I am sorry, but you have changed the Subject line on your reply, so now I
have no idea what we were talking about.

I do apologise: the website is broken. It is being fixed. But right at the
moment, I can't get your original text back, so please forgive me, I must
ask you to do a "Reply" to the original item without changing the Subject
line, so I can find out what we are talking about.

Cheers
