Office:Mac 2004 Proofing Tools

Just finished installing the Office:Mac 2004 software and so far am
very happy to report no issues with the upgrade from Office X.

My question is in regard to the numerous non-english dictionary,
spelling, thesaurus and hypenation files located in the proofing tools
folder found in Shared Applications. Can I safely remove all of the
items that are not US English or UK English files in this folder? Also,
are there any other files located within the Office:Mac 2004
application that I could remove without causing any operational
concerns? Thank you.

FWIW - I whole-heartedly agree with Mr. Roper. The amount of disk space
recovered is negligible relative to the grief & aggravation that potentially
awaits you if you pare down any application beyond the options offered when
you install it.

Much of what you remove may also be replaced by future updates, definitely
will be if you ever need to reinstall. Recouping disk space can better be
handled (in most cases) by appropriate file maintenance measures & removing
other *stuff* (user files, caches, etc.) that really doesn't need to be
there. Save it to another disk if you _may_ need it some day, Trash it if
you don't - and how many of your 200 fonts do you actually *use*?

Thanks for the insight on this matter gentlemen. I do not have an issue
with disk space, just was wondering if all of that material was truly
needed for continued trouble free operation. I will take your advice
and leave things just as they are. Thanks again.

Hi Frank -

Don't usually like to assume anything, but the interest in 'house cleaning'
is frequently motivated by just that :)

I think you & *Word* will get along much more harmoniously!
