I have an iMac G5, OS X 10.4.11 meeting all requirements. I insert disk Home &
Student Edition and it rolls around makes a few noises and after a minute
spits it out.

Test the disk in another computer to verify that it works. If it's a good
disk, then apply the latest Apple combo updater and try the disk again. If
that doesn't work you'll need to do an "Archive & Install".
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need
to roll back or do a clean install.
