Office:mac standard on 800x600 iBook SE monitor

I've just purchased Office 2004 standard for Mac upgrade version (I
have Office 98).

In the fine print of the system requirements it says I need an
1024x768 or greater monitor. As I was hoping to install it on my
iBook SE with an 800x600 monitor, millions of colours, I'm reluctant
to open the box before I find our whether it will work.

The irony is that every other version of Office:mac including the
forthcoming Office:mac Pro seems to work on 800x600 monitors with as
low as thousands of colours
( see http://www.microsoft.com/mac/howtobuy.aspx?pid=sysreq ).

Should I return it and exchange it for Office v.X?

OR

Is the monitor size not really critical??

Cheers,

MH

In my experience Office 2004 does work in an 800x600 environment but there
are a few visual glitches here and there. I prefer to run it at 1024x768.

Dayo,

Thanks for that tip. I tried the demo version (a marathon 186Mb
download even with broadband) and it worked perfectly.

I have now installed Office v.X on the iBook SE and it's fine.
Clearly it was designed for 1024x768 but nothing is lost on older
800x600 monitors.

The only thing is that the slower graphics card on the clamshell
iBooks means that some of the soft scrolling and other things are a
bit slow, but nothing to worry about unduly!

Thanks once again,

Matthew.
