I am having problems with all the applications in Office : Mac V.X
starting they just lock out straightaway, the icons just bounce in the
dock and i have to use force quit. I have tried reloading the software
but this does not work, i have also re-installed the OS X operating
system but again this did not work. I have use the repair programme
but again this had no effect - Please help.

Begin by downloading and installing the latest Office X updates, which are
10.1.2, 10.1.4, and 10.1.5 (10.1.3 is unnecessary). They¹re available from
Microsoft.
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#OfficeX>

Make sure you have the latest OS version from Software Update.

Run Disk First Aid. Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on
the Apple Knowledge Base.
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214>

Try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2/10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900>

Now try removing and re-installing Office X. Insert the Office X CD, then
open the Value Pack. Click the Value Pack Installer. Check "Remove
Office", then click "Continue". Run the "Remove Office" utility. When
done, re-install Office X from the CD.

And, if you're still stuck, the problem might be happening because you have
duplicate or corrupt fonts. You can use a utility like Apple Font Book
<http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/fontbook/> to enable/disable fonts for
testing.

Extensis Suitcase <http://www.extensis.com/suitcase/index.html?ref=hp> even
claims to be able to detect corrupt and duplicate fonts; you might want to
download the free trial and see if that'll help you fix the problem.

Did you try the solutions that Mickey posted yesterday as a reply to
the original message?

Yes, I have tried the following but still no luck :
I tried the Remove Office from my CD but the icon just bounces in the dock
then disappears.
I tried the Office X updates but the installer icon bounces in the dock.
I tried repairing permissions and the fsck repair function and although did
repair some errors made no difference.
I have checked the fonts as suggested but no luck.
I updated OSX to 10.2.8 and the installer worked fine.
