office message comes up when I start up my PC.

This sounds exactly like the problem I'm having (W2000
user). It began after I downloaded and installed patches
for SP4 and blaster worm. It took two attempts to download
each patch. Let me know if you solve this problem. I'll
get back to you if I get it solved. I hope someone from
MSFT is reading this.
